Starting November this year, Kan Estu Transportaion at Gunma of Japan will extend its Narita Airport line to Bukouzan Housuiji in Ikaho Hot Spring. With the new line, it is expected to bring more Asian tourists to town.

Operated by Kan Estu Transportation and Chiba Transportation, Azalea Express runs between Narita International Airport and Gunma. Starting November, it will add one extended trip to Bukouzan Housuiji. The bus will leave Housuiji at 9:25AM passing Ikaho Hot Spring, Maebashi Station, Takasaki Station, and arrive Narita International Airport at 2:30PM. The return bus from Narita Airport sets off at 1:00PM and arrives Housuiji at 5:45PM. Each way takes about 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Bukouzan Housuiji’s Main Shrine was inaugurated in October and opens to public starting November. The local government is looking forward to the growth of tourism. Mayor Tsutomu Takagi of Mukogawa said they hope to have more visitors coming to Ikaho as a result of the opening of Bukouzan Housuiji.

Mr. Takahiro Omori, the Tourism Association President of Ikaho, said they have been awaiting Azalea Express to come to Ikaho for a long time. Since Bukouzan Housuiji broke ground, Ikaho’s visitors from abroad have been growing year after year. They hope can further advance Ikaho’s tourism. They also would like to collaborate with the budget airlines stationed in Narita International Airport to promote Ikaho Hot Spring.

Ms. Omori Noriko, owner of Omori Hot Spring Resort at Gunma, has introduced Bukouzan Housuiji in her blog. “On the way to Yuzo Mizusawa from Ikaho, one magnificent building stands out. It is a temple from Taiwan. Both Buddhists and non-Buddhists are welcome to visit. Sutra transcribing and meditation can be arranged with reservation in advance.” She is looking forward to the grand opening next year.

Ms. Omori Noriko who has visited Bukouzan Housuiji explained to the tourists in details. From the top of the stairways at the temple, one can see the picturesque views of Kanto Plain and Akagi mountain. During the Sakura blossom season, the plain and the blossom will become another attraction of Ikaho.
